HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Patron, Dubai Quality Group)

Dubai Quality Group has been set up as a non-profit organization with the main objective of providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge among the business community. Through its programmes of events, workshops, seminars, conferences etc., it provides organizations with the opportunity to align their management techniques with worldwide Best Practices.

Since its inception, the Group has been of benefit to organizations of all sizes from all sectors of the economy; and the public sector, remaining at the forefront in supporting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in transforming Dubai as a model of excellence and innovation.

I am proud to see that the group has been making an impact, not just nationally, but also regionally and internationally.

The global economy is undergoing significant changes, including smart homes and living, smart factories, and smart cities that will transform the businesses of governments, corporations and individuals. Dubai fully understands the importance and benefits of a smarter and more sustainable future. The Emirate is investing to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to make Dubai the preferred place to live, work and visit as well as a smart and sustainable city and a pivotal hub of the global economy by 2021.

Dubai has deployed various initiatives and projects to achieve His Highness’ vision and transform the whole Emirate, and not just any specific industry, into a smart city. This includes an enabling regulatory environment with modern physical as well as information and communication infrastructure; support for R&D and human capital development; and entrepreneurial capabilities and linkages to tap into global knowledge and financing arrangements. Importantly, Dubai has also adopted and integrated the concepts of quality and excellence into every aspect of business and public life in the Emirate.

However, achieving and sustaining outstanding levels of performance or excellence that exceed the expectations of all stakeholders requires joint efforts between the public and private sectors. The journey to qualitative, strong and sustainable growth is, by definition, a co-operative and collective one.

By making quality an organizational imperative and a personal duty, companies will offer clients value-added products and higher returns on investment. The establishment of the Dubai Quality Award was the first step in this direction. The next step is to set up the Dubai Quality Group to support organizations and to contribute to ‘Dubai’s Drive for Quality.’

Our History

Inspired by the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to develop Dubai as a Hub for Excellence, a group of Quality Professionals, their objective being to increase competitiveness among the business community and to promote Quality & Excellence, proposed to HE Mohammed Al Abbar, who was at the time the Director General, Department of Economic Development, Government of Dubai, the idea of setting up a Group specialized in promoting Quality and Excellence in Dubai. Embracing the idea his Excellency directed the DED to license a non-profit-making organization.

As a result, the Dubai Quality Group (DQG) was formed in February 1994 and the following Professionals were nominated as the founding Board of Directors of the Group:

Initially, the Group received support from major organizations which were pioneers in the adaptation of Quality in the region. These were Dubal, Ducab, Emirates Airline, Fedex & McDermott.

What had started out as a simple thought by like-minded & inspired individuals have blossomed over the years to become the leading organization for Business Excellence & Innovation in the region, with support & contribution from the different Board of Directors that have been overseeing the Group’s activities & initiatives. Since then, the DQG has widened its activities to holding annual international conferences, awards, and benchmarking, knowledge-sharing & networking opportunities.

This is a true example of the difference passion driven people can make when supported by a leadership with true vision. Today, the Group has many more such people associated with it through its members, associates, subgroups, and the synergy among these can mean unlimited possibilities in the future.

Dubai Quality Group is a non-profit organization set up by the Dubai Economy under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Guided by the vision of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Quality Group was established in 1994 to develop and promote Excellence in UAE.

Dubai Quality Group organizes various training programs, conferences & awards throughout the year with the objective of improving Quality of Service & Business Excellence in the Region.

The group extends membership opportunities to organizations, in exchange of various benefits.

Cost-effective and value-added workshops are conducted on a regular basis to provide attendees with knowledge, tools and techniques to implement new and effective management theories within their own organizations.

DQG hosts free Business Breakfast Events & Evening Seminars exclusively for DQG’s member organizations, to provide their employees with an effective platform for networking and knowledge sharing.

DQG Subgroups provide ‘like-minded’ members with a platform to come together and discuss their thoughts, views and expertise in different fields. Each Subgroup meets regularly and has the freedom to organize seminars, benchmarking programs and other activities.

Through its associations with international bodies such as the EFQM, ASQ, Ideas UK, Ideas America, DIB Germany, GBN etc., the group brings international knowledge and best practices to the local business community.

DQG is committed to be center of Knowledge sharing for all topics relating to Innovation and Excellence.

Dubai Quality Group (DQG) is committed to

  • - Promote quality through the provision of membership benefits and managing training courses and quality seminars, awards, conferences, publications, advisory service, networking and subgroups

Top management shall demonstrate leadership, responsibility and commitment for establishing, implementing and continually improving the effectiveness of DQG’s quality management system.

Top management is committed to:

  • - Provide leadership for members to adopt, sustain and continually improve their business performance through promoting frameworks such as business excellence through partnerships, networking and knowledge sharing
  • - Ensure business risks and opportunities are identified; appropriate safeguards are established and implemented to mitigate and manage risk while considering all available potential opportunities.
  • - Proactively manage customer care and satisfaction thereby sustaining a reputation as a quality conscious and reliable partner
  • - Continually review its performance against customers’ expectations, applicable statutory & regulatory requirements and take actions towards continual improvement
  • - Provide and maintain a working environment that encourages all employees to improve and utilize their management skills
  • - Ensuring appropriate resources are made available for the effective implementation of company management system

Customer shall be treated in a professional manner and be provided with complete and accurate explanations regarding their feedback and resolved in an efficient, effective, fair and quick manner.

Our ‘Customer Feedback-Handling’  procedures are consistent with ISO 10002:2018 guidelines and ISO 9001:2015 requirements. In line with ISO 10002:2018 guidelines, DQG shall:

  • - Seek feedback and suggestions for improvement proactively from customers
  • - Welcome feedback from Customers in order to improve products, services and experience
  • - Provide accessible, transparent and accountable customer management processes
  • - Continually review its performance against Customers’ expectations, applicable statutory and regulatory requirements and take necessary actions towards continual improvement
  • - Take into account the financial, operational and organizational requirements
  • - Recognize Customer feedback as opportunities to build knowledge and improve services
  • - Provide courteous, professional, quality service

DQG is committed to continual improvement of ‘Customer Feedback Management” by conducting structured reporting and monitoring, as well as by conducting ‘Customer Feedback Surveys’ to identify areas of potential improvement.

 Quality Policy


Dubai Quality Group is non-profit organization set up by the Dubai Department of Economic Development under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Guided by the vision of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President Dubai Quality Group formed to develop UAE as a centre of excellence

As per the constitution Article (3)
The Dubai Quality Group shall organise quality management and other related professional activities. It shall have its own legal status and shall be deemed to be a legal entity. The Group shall have its own independent legal personality, administratively, legally and financially, within the defined objectives contained herein and within the general policies of the Emirate.

The Group shall have the capacity to enter into contracts in its own name, engage employees and generally do whatever an entity may do under the laws of the Emirate within the defined objectives contained herein and within the general policies laid down by the General Assembly and administered by the Board of Directors.
